On 10 December 2012, Recreational Services began working with the Kaipara District Council after winning the maintenance contract to look after the Parks, Reserves and Cemeteries and the contract for the maintenance of the district’s facilities. The Kaipara District is located in the low hills around the northern shores of the Kaipara Harbour, this is the largest Harbour in the southern hemisphere and opens to the Tasman Sea.
The district stretches from coast to coast at a thinning of the North Auckland peninsula south of Kaiwaka including the beautiful Mangawhai Heads and Harbour to the Waipoua Forest in the northwest, it then extends from there down the west coast to the Kaipara Harbour. It is surrounded by sea on three sides and showcases spectacular beaches and around 2,000kms of coastline. Within the district are the towns of Dargaville, Ruawai, Paparoa, Maungaturoto, Kaiwaka and Mangawhai as well as the many rural areas which surrounds it.
